| Doubt it and even if there was one now,it would be out of date by
definition.I think he only response is the free market choice one-we
have no agreement with Microsoft which says -'you do browsers and we'll
do X'-even if we had,the well earned reputation of Microsoft would
mean it was not worth the paper it's written on.
So,in the classic sense, you can't sensible position one against another
any more than you can position Netscape against MS but I guess you knew
this and it would be nice if even this view were officialised rather
than have poor folk even attempting to defend the undefendable ;-)
Seriously though,it is a major oversight that we do not have a
statement that sales can use when they get the inevitable 'why is
Webforum or whatever better than MS ForumWeb or whatever'.
I usually answer - buy whatever you like

Enterprise Transaction Processing for the Internet
... passing the "ACID" test ...
On July 1, 1996 Digital announces the first solution in the industry
for passing transactions over the Internet where the transactions are
protected by full transaction semantics known as two-phase-commit,
protected by authentication, and protected by encryption.
The product is designed for applications such as financial services,
insurance claims processing, order processing, inventory control, and
distribution. Primary market target is the installed base of 11,000
ACMS and ACMSxp customers. Emerging market is new NT ISV's pursuing
enterprise TP over the Internet, a design/win sales process.
TP Internet Server integrates Digital's high-volume, three-tier ACMSxp
TP monitor with leadership AltaVista Tunnel encryption technology. TP
Internet Server will be available for Digital UNIX and Windows NT
servers and will support Windows 95 and Windows NT clients.
Configurations can be designed for OpenVMS environments by exploiting
the affinity between Windows NT and OpenVMS.
TP Internet Server passes the "ACID" test for industrial-strength
transaction processing: Atomicity, requiring that either all or none
of a transaction's pieces are committed; Consistency, or data validity;
Isolation, requiring that each transaction is isolated from any other
transaction while it is in process; and Durability, requiring that
committed data is saved by the system, even in the event of failure.
Aluizio Borges, managing director, Banco Bradesco S.A., Brazil's
largest bank, said, "Digital's solution for Transaction Processing over
the Internet combines features that guarantee a secure use of the
Internet together with data integrity. Bradesco will evaluate it to be
used in the Remote Banking applications."
