4600.0. "Networking w/External Partners?" by MPOS02::CAMPBELL (Progam Manager) Fri May 17 1996 13:43

    We are teaming with a Big Six company to propose and, if won, deliver a
    solution to a health industry customer. As program manager, I'm
    determined to maximize the communications within the team as well as
    between their respective support organizations. This would include a
    good mail connection with ability to send binary files (Word, Project,
    etc.), as well as a good conference database (Lotus Notes, Digital
    Notes, etc.)

    My first question is, what is the best way technically to connect an
    external partner to our team within Digital? Workgroup for Web?
    Tunnel into a local server? Teamlinks for mail?

    My second question is, what policies govern this kind of connection?

    Thanks,

    * To send mail I would suggest the TeamLinks product.
    * You can't use Workgroup Web as I doubt that they can get through the
    * firewall and this requires you to be able to mount their disk and
    * vice versa.
    * You can use the ISV Notesfile, using a existing one or see
    * if they'll create a specific one for your purposes.
    * There's a support organization, can't remember their name but I can
    * get the information if you want, that supports the partners via the
    * WWW and you might get them to place your information there in
    * realtime. I don't know if they use Workgroup Web Forum if you wanted
    * to do conferencing with the Business Partner.
    * You might check the LJSRV2::INTERNET_TOOLS to get some better
    * guidance.

    	Regards,
