4593.0. "Documentation sources for UNIX SRM Consoles?" by HELIX::WELLCOME (Steve Wellcome MRO1-1/L31 Pole HJ33) Wed May 15 1996 10:49

I'm going to need to write some documentation for a UNIX SRM
console. It's my understanding that "somewhere" in Digital
there is an exhaustive set of sources for all conceivable
SRM console commands, and when one wants to document a particular
SRM console one extracts the relevant files from this source
pool and combines them into a manual.

Can anybody furnish more detail on this, like am I totally
misinformed, or where this source pool is?

    Thanks,
    	Steve

Sorry, it not that simple!

There are several different SRM console source pools floating around the
company. None are kept in sync. There are major differences in
functionality and appearence between the various version. Be careful not
to make any assumptions from looking from a small sample.

I thought he was asking about the sources for the documentation, not
    for the software.

The SRM console is already documented in various hardware reference
manuals. While some orgainization have done a good job, other organization
have provided only limited documentation. The Alpha SRM documents the
lowest common demoninator, after which all consoles diverge.

Good Luck!
