4583.0. "Information Request for Canada" by POWDML::FRYE () Mon May 06 1996 12:32

I just received and inquiry from a customer and would like to
give him appropriate phone numbers to help him out. He is with
the Federal Goverment of Canada Transportation Safety Board.
He wants to find out what products we have to do audio, and
eventually video conferencing over his network. Evidently he
saw something on the internet that we have products in this
space and the only name he could come up with is someone who is
	no longer here.

I spent some time in CALOOK but could not come up with account
information. These folks are already heavily invested in our
products so there must be someone out there. Or should I direct
him to a more techincal resourse?

	Thanks in advance,
	Norma Frye

What you want is either freeware or else a third-party product, Communiqu,
which does videoconferencing among heterogeneous systems on a network. I
don't know who manages it in Digital, but try one of the multimedia
conferences or the Light and Sound group's web page to begin.

Communiqu is/was a product produced by InSoft in Mechanicsburg, PA.
InSoft, Inc. was acquired by Netscape a few months ago. The
old InSoft number is 717-730-9501 (don't know if it's still in
    service).

By-the-way, Communique had a elegant architecture, did not require
specialized hardware but would take advantage of it if present.
Netscape supposedly is working on a product based on InSoft's work.
