whichever format you would like... .DOC .PPT or PS back to yourself.

explain how one is told to select option 4, and to select CS001N?
... and is there a intranet IR-via-Web option yet ... ?

| You ask a friend who is not VTX-traumatized to help you out. There is
a web-VTX interface but it hasn't worked too well for me yet (still
under development).

| .5> a web-VTX interface
I thought I'd heard (perhaps wishful thinking?) that what was on tap
was a direct link between the Web and the IR database itself.
I, for one, see little point in "a web-VTX interface" because, to
borrow a term from Maths, that would be like "reducing the problem to
one that has already been solved -- and badly." Or at least antiquely.
Clarifications will, I am sure, be forthcoming from Those In The Know.

| I'm not "in the know" but I was an "Authorised Beta Tester" of IR
access via the Web (note - no VTX involvement). It worked OK for me.
Versus VTX it had some advantages and some disadvantages, rather
depending on your environment and preferences. Apparently it wasn't
ready for prime time yet. I hope it'll be ready soon.

| You boundah, sir, you cad! You've given the secret URL away! Now I'll have
to share the system with other people! Knowledge is power, and all
that, too :-)
Seriously: if folks do plan to use this, PLEASE help to save time and
CPU and disk cycles by changing your search to search only the "title"
rather than the abstract, if you know roughly what you're looking for.
Otherwise it'll be slower responding to your query than you'd want, and
it'll slow down others too, for the lack of a sensible default (field
test software: it's allowed a few rough edges). Also bear in mind that
the content was snapshotted several weeks ago and hasn't been updated,
and that the field test ended at end March and presumably the facility
may go away. But I look forward with interest to the REAL one.

4544.10 | Auto generated FAX cover pages | VIVIAN::RANCE | http://vivian.hhl.dec.com/rance/ | Tue Apr 16 1996 17:42 | 27 |

Am I the only person here who sends FAXes directly from a PC?
It would seem sensible to provide the Official Digital FAX cover sheet
in appropriate formats for most common FAX software programs.
Whilst we are waiting for something official you will find the
"Official Stuart Rance attempt to render the Digital FAX Cover Page for
the Microsoft at Work FAX - this is the one you use with Exchange" at
http://vivian.hhl.dec.com/wow/forms/digital.cpe
OR
\\vivian\wow\forms\digital.cpe
OR
VIVIAN::[WOW_DATA.FORMS]DIGITAL.CPE
Before using this form you need to configure your Exchange client to
provide the information that gets filled in on the cover page,
I had to take some liberties with the user information. The field
headed Office Location gets transferred to the cover page as internet
address, and I had to leave out the two DTN telephone number fields.
You also need to add your FAX recipients to the address book so that you
can provide their Telephone Number and Title for the cover page.

4544.11 | DEClaser 3500 fax | FUNYET::ANDERSON | OpenVMS Ambassador | Tue Apr 16 1996 22:58 | 7 |
| Am I the only person here who sends FAXes directly from a PC?
I send my faxes from my OpenVMS workstation, Macintosh and Windows NT systems
via a DEClaser 3500 fax card. It's a great alternative to using a corporate fax
gateway.
