A major customer is upgrading their vaxcluster to Alpha. Discovered late in the actual migration process is that the customer has an important application that is being actively developed and is based upon an obsolete Digital product called RGL. I think that this is the regis graphics library and was used to do graphics on vt125, vt240 and later terminals. I think that rgl was a product developed in one of our product lines (EDU OR LDP?) in the early 80's (which is no longer abvailable). I would like to quickly look at the sources and see how hard it would be to port this to alpha/vms. The problem is - I have no idea how one would obtain the sources for a product no longer suppoorted by Digital. I would be grateful for any pointers to these questions: o Is it possible that we GAVE the sources to DECUS or otherwise put them in the public domain after we stopped supporting the product? o Is there anyone that knows how I could obtain a source kit for this obsolete product? Is there some corporate process for archiving product source codes (or was there such a process in the early 80's)? If anyone has any pointers, I would be most grateful for your help. Mike

Mike, I'd suggest that you talk to Tim Lasko, MRO1-2/J25, 297-8430. RGL was a competitor to the Tektronix 4014 graphics terminal protocols. Tim should be able to get you to the right people. Tim

Once upon a long time ago, whenever we submitted software to the SSB we also submitted a source tape. Not all groups had this practice. SSB never told us how long source tapes were kept. But nevertheless....try ssb! /john

By the way, the replacement product for RGL was GKS, a 2D graphics library that also outputs ReGIS protocol. It is still supported and run on Alpha. Garry
