4444.0. "Realtime database appls ?" by ADOV01::MANUEL (Over the Horizon....) Mon Feb 26 1996 09:05

    Help please..

I'm looking for any sites internal or external that are using a
relational database ,Oracle in particular, in any realtime
applications, ie time critical, in a signal processing environment.

We have done an evaluation of Oracle over a file based database for a
radar application and the Oracle solution looks impressive but I'd like
to confirm other experiences in similar applications.

    Thanks

We were doing a project for Cheyenne Mountain back around 1990 that
had a similar requirement (as I recall). John Scott was the program
manager for that one. I think this is his ELF entry (too many John
Scotts in the corp.). However, the location code is the same as it
was in 1990, and the middle initial is the same. Give it a shot.

I know of a couple of 'real time' apps that are using either
Oracle or Oracle Rdb. And doing them very well. (excellent
    db design and application programming).

Talk to Boyne Island Smelters in Queensland (near Gladstone). Use Rdb
for potline control. Part of Comalco/CRA.
