4344.0. "The PCsoftware gripe note" by TINCUP::KOLBE (Wicked Wench of the Web) Wed Jan 03 1996 14:36

Does anybody know why the VTX PCSOFTWARE pages tell us that
getting the Microsoft kits online is on hold indefinately?

The agreements have been signed so what's stopping us? liesl

The implementation of the servers are not on hold they are just delayed.

    From VTX:

"The implementation of electronic distribution has been delayed.
You will be advised of the activation of the PC Software Ordering
Service prior to its scheduled implementation date."

I believe the delay in implementation was due to problems with
    the servers.

I've had great service from PCsoftware. I had several questions
(mainly because the VTX infobase was still under construction), and
the PCsoftware people answered them promptly, correctly, and
completely. Since I wanted actual distributions in my hands, I
ordered them (and docs) via VAXmail. They showed up about 10 days
   later.

Many thanks to Colin and Carolyn for the great service they provided
   to me.

Steve, I believe Liesl is talking about aquiring kits on-line,
    over the net.

The servers for this service have arrived and are being loaded at this time.
They have to be shipped to the 6 sites that will house them in the US, so expect
an announcement in the next week or two.

Thank you, that's great news. We anxiously await. Even a couple
dollars price difference can mean getting approval or not to buy
the software. We have to multiply every cost times 60 or so engineers.

Because you might print it and the expense of all that toner and paper is
too high for the company to bear at the moment.
