Alpha Implementations and Architecture
Complete Reference and Guide
Dileep P. Bhandarkar
* Only comprehensive treatise on Alpha architecture, chips, and systems
* Insider's view of Alpha
* A comprehensive discussion of Alpha with overviews of competition
Alpha Implementations and Architecture provides a comprehensive
description of all major aspects of Alpha systems. The book includes an
overview of the history of RISC development in the computer industry and
at Digital, the Alpha architecture, all the major processor chips, and
system implementations. The book also covers RISC concepts and design
styles, provides an overview of other RISC architectures, and
descriptions of the new SPARC, MIPS, PowerPC, and PA-RISC
microprocessors introduced in 1995. The book also discusses operating
system porting issues, compiler techniques, and binary translation.
Practicing computer engineers and graduate students in computer
architecture alike will find this reference book useful as it describes
the tradeoffs and design philosophy that led to the development of the
Alpha architecture and its implementations.

4333.4 | When did Dileep leave? | OSLMR::MARTINR_P | Advice: Say nothing often... | Tue Jan 02 1996 03:52 | 7 |
| Excuse my ignorance, but I notices from the initial note that
Dileep has left for Intel. When did this happen?
I must say this is shocking news (to me at least...).
Thank's.
