| I can't answer your question, but perhaps you'd do better asking in
DECWET::DECCXX.

| Doesn't the answer depend on what "supported" means? DEC C++ is the
only one Digital supports. Way back at the beginning of development of
DEC C++ there used to be Oregon C++, or something like that. And I
think Gnu C++. But these have all been surpassed by DEC C++, to my
knowledge.
There's probably nothing comparable to DEC C++ that runs on OpenVMS.
Borland's, MicroSoft's, and such C++ products that are cutting edge run
on PCs.
But did you know you can simulate AT&t's cfront and VC++ within DEC C++
by using a switch?

4315.3 | GNU C++ is still around | NEWVAX::PAVLICEK | Zot, the Ethical Hacker | Mon Dec 11 1995 13:20 | 6 |
| GNU C++ for OpenVMS is still out there (according to a quick AltaVista
Web search; COOL search engine BTW!!!).
DEC C++ may have the features, but GNU C++ has the platforms (including
Linux) and the price. You may or may not want to bet-your-business on
it, but it is there and viable.

| Actually, GNU C++ has been superceded. It's part of GNU C, in the
same compiler, has been merged for a while.

Hundreds of companies bet their business on inferior - though cheap! -
products all the time. A piece of info that perhaps the Digital
leadership may want to consider.

Gee, Barry. You can't mean that someone would bet there business on
INFERIOR technology??? Never! That's why that Microsplat company will
NEVER succeed in the corporate world! Why, who would have one of those
TOY PC things on their desk?!?! And this NONSENSE about FREE software!
No one will EVER use it! It's a MAINFRAME world out there, after all...

4315.7 | Specific customer issues being discussed offline | TLE::BECKLEY | | Tue Dec 12 1995 08:53 | 6 |
| Discussion of the particular customer issues that prompted the base
note has been taken offline so that we can deal with them more
effectively. Anyone who wants to throw their two cents in about other
C++ compilers shipping on OpenVMS is still welcome to do so.
