4296.0. "HELP NEEDED FOR CUSTOMER IN NEW YORK" by NCMAIL::BCARROLL () Tue Nov 28 1995 14:36

Can someone please help or point me in the right direction.....

I received a call from a John Pollo at Starpoint Central School
District in New York. He apparently got the run around before
being told to call me - not sure why except maybe that I'm the
only individual that is involved in marketing programs to our
    educational customers.

He would like the name and phone number of a Digital person
that he can call to send computer specifications and bid
purchase information to. He's interested in purchasing 20
    computers.

Can someone please advise who he should call? His phone number
if you can help is 716-625-7272, ext 291.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Betsy Carroll

Not sure where Starpoint is, but the areacode is from sonewhere up here in the
Buffalo/Rochester area. I forwarded .0 to the SBU IB4000 rep for the region.

Well just as an irrelevant point of interest, Starpoint is Timothy McVeigh's
alma mater, located north of Buffalo near Lockport, N.Y.

As a point of correction, Starpoint School District is located in
Ransomville, NY, approximately 26 miles east of Buffalo and about 12
miles from Lockport, NY (my actual home town).

It is a very large rural school district encompassing about 40%
of the Eastern half of Niagara County, NY. Lockport is the county
seat. And I could go on and on...

Hey, another ex-Niagara County Digit, I see. But actually Starpoint is 7
miles southwest of Lockport, in the town of Pendleton, situated on Mapleton
Road, two miles west of Campbell Blvd (NY Rt 270). The name Starpoint
was taken since the school district was created in 1956 from areas in five
townships (Pendleton, Wheatfield, Cambria, and two others that escape me).

You Lockportians never did have a clear idea of what else was going on in
    the county ;)

	John -

Probably very true. We tended to think Buffalo, or Olcott. But
I'll always remember fondly growing up there. And where are you
	from exactly???

Maybe I misunderstand today's selling model, but shouldn't a small
order like that be directed to a Reseller?

    Hi Greyhawk,
I grew up in Pendleton - Lockport was the big city, used to go to the
public library every Saturday morning after shopping - it was a good place
    to grow up.

Had some wacky times in Wilson and Middleport, NY (somewhere in the
middle of all the preceeding geography) :^) Until 2:00 am, when you had
to, er, head over to Erie County.

Believe me, the IB4000 reps will utilize resellers when appropriate, but from
personal experience its best if we manage the lead to begin with.
