Our Korean sales team has asked for a reference site in Business Process Re-engineering, preferably in the financial sector. We do have some sites but the work there was done some years ago and the recommendations were not implemented on Digital. 2 questions: Anyone know of any good reference sites? Are we still in that business or is it better to refer to Arthur Andersen etc.? Thanks Axel

We're out of the BPR component of Digital SI services, as viewed from the classic "big picture" standpoint. There's no universally agreed upon definition of BPR, so be careful. One could argue that we still do BPR, if their view is to (for instance) to move from 2-tier to 3-tier client/server computing. The BPR that we're not doing is enterprise-wide, management consulting. Now there may be some local exceptions, but the general management partyline is that we're directing that higher level portion to our partners. Indeed, those conversations have taken place in recruiting my account, CSC Consulting, and are expanding in scope. To oversimplify, a useful paradigm might be "MANAGEMENT CONSULTING=CSC (or other partner), TECHNOLOGY CONSULTING=DIGITAL SI". Yes, there's functional delivery overlap and yes, it complicates the picture from a sales & delivery standpoint. However, it also enforces a highly disciplined customer requirements review - ultimately a benefit to all involved. | |||||

Try asking the SI competency circle leaders for Process Modelling (BPR). They are responsible for Digital's capability for this type of consultancy. For AP Area the leader is Johan Destropper @ZPO. Worldwide competency leader is Bill Dornbush @OGO. Regards, Peter |
