Business Week has an "annual buying guide to computers" in the Nov. 6th issue. The Dec Starion 910 is tied for tenth. At first glance, the obvious advantage the other systems have over it is cpu power; it's the lowest in that respect, having a 75 MHz Pentium. The others go up to a 133 MHz Pentium. Dec comes in second in the subnotebook category, with the 486 HighNote Ultra, losing to the Toshiba 610CT, the only Pentium on the list. Newsweek has a Computers & the Family issue out. The Starion 920 is the third one described. That issue of Business Week also has a double page Dec ad for Pentium and Alpha NT systems.

My PCcompleat catalogue lists Starions up to 133MHz. What gives? FWIW, according to PCcompleat, both Hinote versions have gone end-of-life. Limited quantities are available. The replacements are not due out for another 2-3 months, after the Holiday buying season. John | |||||
