    Can someone help me understand our VAR strategy.
    
    It seems as if we are all out spending money to recruit the same VAR's.
    I know the Network's Business Unit is spending a lot of money to
    recruit VAR's, they are the same VAR's that I would like to have
    selling my networking software. AVENET is running a program to recruit
    150 new VAR's. How do I get access to them. Wiley and Merisel have
    agree to give me their VAR list so that I can send them Not For Resale
    (NFR) software and information on our latest offerings.
    
    Is there somewhere where I can go to find a list of the VAR's (tiered
    or otherwise) that can sell our software so that I can get them the
    latest information.  
    
    FYI, There is a database that has all of the Pathworks LAN
    VAR's to date. Your VAR can sign up by calling 800-457-8211 and
    mentioning Pathworks Partner Program. We are trying to get this the be
    the Digital Software Reseller Database. Call me for more details.
    
    I see getting this under control as a critical success factor in our
    continued  success.

There is no single European list of accredited partners. You have to go to 
each territory and ask.

    A few years ago I used to work in Operations..where lists of this
    type were maintained and a database could be queried to run reports
    on VARs, OEMs, EU's, etc.  I would check with Michael McCarthy's 
    organization in MRO, DTN: 297-7292.

    There is a list of UK SBU partners on the UK SBU infernal web pages on
    http://www.bbp.dec.com/ (???; typing this from home with no hotlist)
    It's accessible externally from http://www.digital.co.uk/
    From memory the list is just names, no details of market sectors
    covered or other info one might use to select an accredited VAR.
