| | Well...

thanks to boys in field service (yep, that's my name for them, forever)
for helping with tracking this info down.

We used the TIMA TOOL application to hunt down these beasties:

    	EK-SCSIOV-001 Digital SCSI: An Overview
    	EK-SCSIS-SP-001 Digital SCSI: Developer's Guide

They exist in a Digital internal system for use with the DECwindows
Bookreader application. They are INTENDED for third party developers
who are ENCOURAGED to develop strange and unusual SCSI devices for use
    with Digital systems.

    Wonders never cease...

| | Hi,

re: .1 You used the wrong search string in LOS use SCSI (searches are
done on the title) not EK-SCSI and you get lots of manuals covering SCSI.
Also the word obsolete is explained as meaning that the technical manuals
are not orderable through LOS any more but can be browsed.

re: .2 The part number for the overview document is wrong (too many
    digits) it should be EK-SCSIS-OV.

    Hope this helps,
    Mike.

| | Those documents are pretty old -- they date to 1988 or 1989 -- and I never
saw electronic copies after the final versions were published. I think
you're out of luck.

If your looking for info on Digital UNIX, then the following
    guide may be helpful:

"Writing Device Drivers for the SCSI/CAM Architecture Interfaces"

    Part Number AA-PS3GC-TE

Of course, it's more software oriented. Are you looking for the
    hardware implementation ?

If so, one of the CPU manuals may prove helpful. For example, the

"DEC 3000 300-900 AXP Models System Programmer's Manual" should
have enough detail. It's part number is "EK-D3SYS-PM.B01

And, there are others for the various platforms but I don't know
if those are available for the general public. This one is.

Let me know and I'll try to find a pointer to the .ps files.

    Hope this helps!

| | I happen to work in the SSB. Anytime anyone is looking for part number
assistance, a good place to look is in VTX ESSB. You can find parts
for hardware/software documentation, kit parts, condist listings, ect...

If ever anyone is looking for break the seal (pc sw) for internal use,
you can call STREAM INT'L (DIGITALS supplier at this time) at
800-934-0970. Tell them you are a DIGITAL employee and ask for the
part/price your cost center would be charged. Then, you can either
fill out an Internal SW Order Form or call DTN: 264-4446 to order
the software. The only catch is that on break the seal, there are
some products that are on an approved list, meaning you could just
send in the form or call. The products not on the approved list means
you would have to fill out the form and attach an approval to it.
You can find the approved PC SW list in VTX PCSOFTWARE.
