4073.0. "Possible Alpha Server Sales Opportunity, anyone interested?" by TNPUBS::J_GOLDSTEIN (Run over on the Info Highway) Thu Aug 24 1995 12:27

The things I get asked these days...one of the third-parties whose network
products we OEM has just asked me, a humble and generally confused tech writer,
about the possibility of buying an Alpha server from Digital (I gathered from
the conversation that they don't want to deal with resellers).

Anyway, they want to use Alpha machines for their accounting systems. Apparently
HP is putting the pressure on them to buy their stuff, but they're very
interested in the Alpha server. The company is Proxim in Mountain View,CA. The
person to talk with is a Mark Shamschoian (415) 964-5181. They're looking to
purchase something by September 15.

So, anyone want to give this guy a call?

cheers,

joan

4073.1SBU Territory and Telesales Rep Follow-UpMSBCS::HALLI LUV TennisFri Aug 25 1995 00:2812
This note was forwarded to the Western Region for follow-up by the
Digital territory rep and the telesales rep.

The Americas Telecoverage Organization (ex-DMO) in Merrimack can
follow-up and either work with the customer directly in some cases or
with a business partner. The preferred model is working with a
Business Partner, although customers can book orders directly when
    necessary.

    Regards,

.4 is right imho, as far as it goes. However, the underlying concept
(DECnotes) has had its day, and (again imho) it's too late to make much
    of a bundle from it.
