4057.0. "WIN32 API on OpenVMS and Digitla UNIX?" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (Theo van Hunnik) Mon Aug 21 1995 07:39

I just read in the article "Inside the Mind of Microsoft" in Byte
August 1995 the following lines.

"And Digital Equipment recently announced that OpenVMS will support
 the WIN32 API via Wind/U, a UNIX-based win32 layer from Bristol
Technologies. By writing to Win32 and the Microsoft Foundation
Class Library, developers can recompile thier applications to run
 on OpenVMS or Digital UNIX"

Can anybody give more information on this? does this give the
possibility to port any WIN32 compliant application including all
the GUI stuff?

Thanks

Theo van Hunnik

    Hi Theo,

I _think_ there's a Bristol Technologies advert in the same issue of
Byte, with a form to request more info (paper!). Can't recall if
there's a WWW page... why not send off for some first hand info (I
    will, eventually).

The WIN32 APIs are available on Digital UNIX from 2 Partners...Bristol
Technologies and Mainsoft. Both were announced/demoed at DECUS in
    Washington in May.
