    Hi, does anyone know if DEC will, or plans to ever re-instate the option
    of buying gear through the EPP & having payments deducted off your
    pay cheque, or did this privelege permanently go the way of the "DoDo
    bird" along with a lot of other things in light of recent times.
    It seems to me that DEC is possibily shooting at it's own feet
    in preventing it's own employees help fill it's coffers. When the
    DECpc's came out a flurry of employees(least where I work) endorsed it
    & bought into this program.
    
    
    This arrangement suited me fine as well as other people I know who were
    more than happy to buy DEC pc products but just didn't
    have the cash on line. Also there's a lot of products DEC has I
    can't buy in a store, say I want a new or used 3100 or whatever for
    whatever.
    
    As a result of this I have since bought about $6,000 worth of pc's &
    peripherals somewhere else. I would have like to have purchased this
    from DEC instead.

	If you mean interest-free, probably not. You can get a DCU loan with automatic deductions at a reasonable rate (for an unsecured loan). Steve

	I think the program went away when the payment period exceeded the average employment expectancy.

	Thanks Steve, I had never heard of a DCU. Do you or does anyone know if a DCU could be obtained to purchase used DEC equipment? Regards J.P.

	A DCU is an organization whose charter is to explain to you why they can't do what you want, but if they could, it would be at a higher percentage rate than your local bank. :^]

	DCU does have a special loan program for employee purchases of PCs - I don't know how it would work with used equipment. Steve

	I just bought a Digital PC (May 95) through EPP. The money is deducted from my pay check every week. I received my PC loan through the DCU at a fairly low interest rate. I absolutely love my PC. I plan on writing a note in this notes file some time in the near future regarding my purchase. Colleen

	Re: .8 That's not what was being asked for. A few years ago, the EPP program offered interest-free loans for PC purchases where the payments were deducted from your paycheck automatically. DCU wasn't involved. This program was suspended shortly after the layoffs started. Steve

	One also has to remember that the DCU is not a part of Digital Equipment Corp. bc

	One should also note that many people find DCU a valuable service, and have no problem with it. Since the complaints seem more vocal than the compliments, I thought someone ought to complement them.
