| Nice to see a little advertising. The logo does look a bit off, though.
Anybody else catch the HTML syntax error in the source for that page?
I can see the letters being white and the surrounding blocks being
dried, ahh, burgundy, but do the inter-block spacers have to be white?
An alternative would be to make the spacers "transparent". Then we
wouldn't have the extra whitespace problem, and could get rid of the
border around the figure. The whole thing would look a lot cleaner.
But I'm not a professional at this, so never mind.

GIFs do support a "transparent" color, so it's entirely possible
if the logo is a GIF. If it's a JPEG, I don't think it is possible.

You are correct on the use of the logo for more reasons than you cited.
First it should not be used in a sentence -- the sentence should read
Sponsored by Digital Equipment Corporation -- so no logo is necessary
or desired in this situation.
Second, the DIGITAL logo should never be put in close proximity with
any other logo -- there is a specified "clear space" that is supposed
to be maintained around the logo.
WRT using all caps when referencing the logo, it is a convention, a way
of indicating that one is referring to the logo and not the company. It
was specified in the Digital Style Guide from Digital Press many years
ago and has been continued to the present.

I am the account manager of Yellow Pages in the U.K.. Who do I contact
to find out more about this ?. What does the Digital sponsorship
involve ?.
With regard to trade-marks, do you have permissions to use the logo
or name from Yellow Pages ?
Is this service a "yellow pages" of Internet services or is it an all
encompasssing "yellow pages" for all businesses ? If the latter is it
based just on one company's area ? or multiple ?

| In the US, at least, "Yellow Pages" has been ruled to not be a trademark.
In other countries this may vary.

| Has anyone actually succeeded in navigating to anything found by this search
engine? When I searched on "trek", 3 hits came up with what looked like blue
hyperlinks. When I clicked on any of those I got this message in the Mosaic
browser:
