Assuming that someone fixes it, though, I'm guessing that's the path to

| www.digital.com is the place to start - I gave a session at DECUS listing the
various Internet information resources Digital offers. The session notes
from my session are probably usable as a roadmap, though it covers more
than WWW. Let me know if you want a copy (I have the presentation in
Powerpoint form - I can probably do text or PostScript as well.)

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, you can't get to the Digital UNIX
ISV application list from the Digital external home page. You need to
know the URL: http://dcposf.mlo.dec.com/directory/bin/alpha
len.

| The external catalog is not the same version as internal, but it's
there and it's easy to find. Just go the Digital home page
http://www.digital.com/ and select Quickindex, and you'll find the
Alpha AXP Applications Guide.

It may be easy to find when you know where to look for it, but I
couldn't find it from the home page without your "hint". It certainly
wasn't where I expected to find it.

| Here's the text outline of my session. I've placed the Powerpoint version in
TLE::FORD$:[LIONEL.PUBLIC]INTERNET.PPT. (Note - the PPT version has an error
in the URL for the UNIX freeware list - I've corrected it in the text below
and will update the PPT tomorrow.) I have an audio tape of the session -
I don't know if one can still order copies - call PSI at 800-808-8273 and
ask if the tape of DECUS Spring '95 session WW003 is available.

3890.7 | Internal Alpha Catalog URL Update | KRYSTL::POPHAM | Darren Popham | Mon May 22 1995 18:21 | 15 |
|
Follow up to Application catalog:
The URL (http://dcposf.mlo.dec.com/directory/bin/alpha) for the
internal version of the catalog is no longer valid. We
moved to Marlboro. As such, the URL is now:
http://dcposf.mro.dec.com/directory/bin/alpha
I am trying to see if I can get the mlo server to point at
dcposf.mro for any dcposf.mlo references, but so far no luck.

3890.9 | The PC page seems a bit wacky also | HSOSS1::HARDMAN | Digital. WE can make it happen! | Fri Sep 22 1995 11:01 | 9 |
| I've noticed in the last couple of days that the www.pc.digital.com
home page doesn't display correctly on my browser. I get a message that
the page is downloaded, but there's nothing on the screen until I
scroll down and back up. Then I can see the graphics.
This doesn't happen with any other pages that I regularly access.

Hello! Hello! What's it take to get any attention in this
notesfile? Severe whining about Digital's latest marketing faux
pas, rude comments about Bob Palmer's latest fashion statements? Geez!
I'm sure someone must have a pointer to the correct person
to talk to about WWW performance. This request comes not from my
inability to access the Disney Home Page, but from an EXTERNAL CUSTOMER'S
inability to access Digital's Home page and Digital OnLine's Ordering
information!
A name/pointer would surely be appreciated.
thanks,
Rick

Politely asking concise and direct questions, clearly indicating who
is affected, seems to be one approach that works well. I would never
have inferred all of the details in your reply .10 from your reply .8.
