| Well, I've already seen 3 or 4 other April Fool's notes. Why get so
upset with this one?

You're kidding right? Why in the hell would you delete that piece of
humor when we're ripping apart the phone standard or talking about
changing the name back to DEC or VMS for April Fool's day.

Hold on, I think I've found a conundrum here... :^]

Guess they didn't want to have BP or Andy Groves from Intel have to go

| It might not have been BP doing the "only kidding" stuff - 'Ol Trace has had to
do a little explaining to management once or twice over the years.
In the past, an April Fool's version of VNS' Computer News went over the net.
It: 1. Looked pretty darned authentic
2. Had my name attached to it
3. Had less than upbeat contents (though I forget the details)
Anyway, I started getting a several confused/angry phone calls from people who'd
received it. And if people think I did it, someone could complain to, say,
personnel or security that they found it distinctly unamusing, management gets
involved, etc. and things have the potential to turn into a bit of a mess.
I certainly don't mind a little April Fools humor (played a joke or two myself
this year) and I didn't find .0 particularly "threatening" for lack of a better
term, but I'm not upset at Security for asking it be removed. It's nice to see
VNS is enough of a fixture around here that people enjoy spoofing it on 4/1, but
I'd like to think people could find it just as amusing (and Security would find
it less of an issue) if the contents wasn't presented in a VNS "wrapper".
