I got a call today from a friend asking me about Software companies
that provide complete services. They currently have Visability and
would like to know who else is around. They are a manufacturing
company that produces those plastic ties. The current system that they
use, pretty much runs the business (accounting, order processing ect).
They are looking for other providers to compare to and talk with.
I thought maybe SAP3 might be something that they can use but I was not
sure. They have purchased an ALPHA 2100 this year and they like to stay
with that system, so the provider has to be a DEC VMS platform provider.
I know that they have spent over 100k recently with Visability, I don't
know if we provide that type of service... Any input/suggestions would
be appreciated...

Have them call Effective Management Systems in Milwaukee, WI
414-359-9800 and they will be directed to the local EMS office
nearest them (there are 25 in the US). EMS competes with
Visability in the discrete manaufacturing/job shop marketplace;
runs on Alpha/VMS; has better software and support IMHO; is
a full GUI/RDBMS Client-Server implementation with MES
functionality; and has been a DEC VAR for 18 years with over
1,200 installs in the US alone.
They are also real good folks.

Why not give the business to Digital? We have many manufacturing
people in the PSCs who can pull together this type of solution. If it
is an opportunity for SAP R/3, then we can use the new CAPISCE
initiative to bundle R/3 and the PDAS layer (BASEstar, etc) to provide
a full solution.
