| "SETCON is a set of tools used to develop and operate an advanced control
system or realtime supervisory constrol system..."
(I suspect that our collageus who work in process control, oil/gas, utilities,
might have some first-hand experience with the product).

| You can interface SETCON to almost anything, given a chance.
If you can find anyone from a process-industry software background
they should know of SETCON.
Setcon also runs on HP-UX, and maybe others.
Setcon also had a more modern sister called SETCIM.
Setpoint Inc used to be a CSO, or SCMP, or whatever, and there used to
be an entry for them on Softbase. I can't find one now, but I don't
know whether Softbase gets updated these days anyway... Setpoint Inc
also got taken over by a French company, CEGELEC, at one stage.
Julie, what's your interest? If you are Julie Howell @ REO, then:
1) There is a UK subsidiary of Setpoint, and various Setcon/Setcim
resellers
2) Bill Whight @ BSO knows far more than I do about this stuff

Walter's information in -.1 is correct. SETCON is a layered product
from SETPOINT that is normally used in Manufacturing solutions.
I would be very suprised to find out that SETCON does not support the
TDC3000 Distributed Control System. It is one of the major systems in
the industry.
I used to hear a lot about SETCON a couple of years ago, but have not
seen much of them lately.

3616.6 | Maybe I can help! | MSDOA::PERKINST | | Tue Jan 10 1995 19:26 | 11 |
| Maybe I can help. I have a Process Industry background and have worked
with Setpoint on several projects.
Setpoint's SETCON is a data acquisition and supervisory control
application. Newer versions can be interfaced to Honeywell's TDC 3000
DCS system via the CM50 gateway & software available from Honeywell.
I am not aware of a notes file on Setpoint, but you might try
contacting Dale Clutter @MRO. He is part of the group that works with
3rd parties like Setpoint.

3616.7 | Or you could try... | CAMONE::SCHIESSL | | Wed Jan 11 1995 12:45 | 9 |

I might as well throw in a plug here....
If SETCON does not work out, look at using Digital's own BASEstar
software. It currently supports the TDC3000 through Honeywell's CM50S
gateway.

And if you want something that works straight out of the box then
try OSI's PI system. I have installed PI in a power station OZ.
