We are sourcing out a multi-CPU 7000- or 10000-class AXP that is accessible via Internet for use in a benchmark by a customer in China. They are already aware of the 4000's that we currently have available under the Alpha-on-Internet program but are insistent on testing out a mainframe-class AXP machine on Internet. We have identified some US sites that have the right equipment configuration but do not readily have Internet access as they all have the common 'limitation' of being inside Digital's firewall. The system must be accessible from the customer site and dialling-in is also not acceptable. Can anyone suggest possible options? Cheers, Bong

Requirements for this type of customer benchmarking and system testing can be dealt with by the service bureau and benchmarking centre in Valbonne. Internet access is a hot topic currently and any immediate customer requirement you have may help to crystallise their Internet plans that they have on the table today. Send your request to SERVICE BUREAU@VBO who will you give you a prompt and a business-like reply quoting their capabilities, Internet timescales and standard terms and conditions. N.B. - this is not a "free" service like the Alpha/Internet testdrive systems. The Account Team will need to make a business decision whether to pass the benchmark costs on to the customer, or to treat them as a pre-sales cost. /Chris. |
