3437.0. "Coexist and downsize ICL M/F ... Yes?" by HGOVC::DANNYNG () Wed Oct 12 1994 12:16

    Application migraion from ICL M/F ... Not new to Digital?!

    Anyone who had had solution architect such migration before, please
    contact me - you may land yourself on a short-term assignment in Asia!

    Customer has strategic intent to migrate an inhouse written accounting
    applications from a dual-host ICL m/f to open C/S platform (of course,
    we are talking about Alpha). OpenVMS or OSF/1 is open to persuasion.
    No tight deadline to migrate - low risk is major criterium.

    Please feel free to contact me if you are the right person or you know
    someone who can perform the task.

    There had been proposition using FBE and/or Jabberwocky. Feel free to
    comment.

    Danny,

    You want to post your question in the Jabberwocky and FBE notes
    conferences. They are:

    IE::JABBERWOCKY
    GNPIKE::FBE

    And there is always the ICL notes conference:

    MUGGER::ICL

    Good luck,

    Peter

    As ICL is based in Britain and has the most computers in that country,
    I would suggest cross posting the note there.

    Max.

3437.4ICL ME29 experienceCHEFS::PARRYDOld dogs know all the tricksThu Oct 13 1994 06:426
    I have project-managed two projects to port to and from the ICL ME29,
    not quite a mainframe, more a mini. However, in one case it did
    involve "Range COBOL" which was supposed to run on VME systems too.
    What little technical knowledge I had is well out of date now but I could
    put you in touch with people who understand these things very well. I'm
    back from leave on Monday and you can get me on DTN 830-1393.
3437.5Jabberwocky could be an answerIE::DUMPTY::SMITHWho dares . . .gets fired!Mon Oct 17 1994 06:5711
Yes, we've used Jabberwocky successfully to integrate new systems
with old many times. We've even done it using our ICL interconnect
products.

To save boring everyone here though, lets take this one to the
Jabberwocky notes conference (IE::JABBERWOCKY), give me a ring on
774 6261, or we could even get together and talk about it when I'm
in Hong Kong to deliver Jabberwocky Training (November 21-26th)
