| I would probably start with a company called "Verifone". I think their
HQ is in silicon valley somewhere.
They're the company that makes most of thise little boxes that your
card gets swiped through at the auto-parts store... (or wherever..)

We have developed a Card Payment system for a large Retail customer in the UK.
In conforms to the APACS 40 standard for transaction authorisation and
on-line funds transfer and, also maintains a central database of all transaction
details with a flexible reporting facility.
It does not have a "Customer not Present" facility at the moment but we are
discussing this option with another customer.
Contact Clive Woodley @SBP if this is of interest.

| I would assume that in order to be effective, you would need to contract with
some sort of service bureau that maintains a worldwide credit card validation
database. Otherwise you may have the technology, but no data to validate against.

3428.6 | Talk to your Bank | SIERAS::MCCLUSKY | | Fri Oct 07 1994 13:59 | 8 |
| First Data Resources in Omaha, Nebraska provides total credit card
service from generation of cards, authorization, etc. You can also
contact a bank and then the networks, such as Star, Cirrus and Plus,
but you must be sponsored by your bank. In California there is another
organization called Interlink, which is owned by VISA. Finally, you
can contact VISA and Mastercard for authorization services.

| Suggestions on talking to your bank, Visa, Mastercard still stand. I
suggest you talk to Henny Olthof @uto, dtn 838.2021 who did a lot of
work with Eurocard in Holland. If you want software, Muscato has
excellent s/w that runs on VAX, ERDS9000. You could also contact
Applied Communications Inc. in London - this is now a Tandem company
and may not be cooperative. Henny is your best bet and tell him I said
"hello".
