Anyone have heard about a product called "DEC Photo Library", developed by DEC in UK ? To product is designed to take images from a variety of sources for archieving and retrieval. It supports fractal image compression using a special card on a PC The system uses DEC Alpha AXP server with Windows and Mac clients. Is it possible for a customer to order it ? How ? Any idea about SPD ? Prices ? Thanks,

I haven't heard about the product in UK, but there is a product from our partner in Finland meant for press photo service providers. I have written their address and phone number somewhere else in this conference. The name of the company is Acta Systems. --Ritva

We are showing this product as a custom solution in the U.S.. Bob Cohen, who is in newspaper solution marketing, is working on bringing it to the US. Geoff Adams, who works for SI (nee DC) has been demoing it around. Both these folks should be able to help. By the way----it is a pretty neat solution edg
3426.3 | It's called Picture Library | TRUCKS::BURY | Wed Oct 05 1994 14:44 | 7
It's called Picture Library and has been developed by colleagues of mine in Solent. Contact Mark Payne(@SBP DTN 782 2207) for business details and/or Nigel Burton (@SBP DTN 782 2252) for technical/ architecture information. Currently the client is only on PCs tho' a MAC client is also in the pipeline. It uses the TRIP CBR engine for searching and all in all it's got a pretty good front-end. |
