3412.1 | How sad he suffered so... | WELSWS::HILLN | It's OK, it'll be dark by nightfall | Tue Sep 27 1994 04:56 | 2 |
| There goes a real gentleman, and also a real gentle man, leaving behind
many noble memories.

3412.2 | we were lucky to know him.... | NRSTA2::HORGAN | Tim Horgan | Tue Sep 27 1994 10:47 | 17 |
| What a shock. I talked to Dimitri only about two months ago, and he
did not tell me he was not well. But that was how he was.
I had the pleasure of working with Dimitri in both the CALS group and
in ESG, and we did some travelling together where I learned about his
rugby exploits. I can very clearly recall some of those conversations,
and his very gentle, patient manner.
The last time I saw Dimitri I remember being very glad to see him.
He never had a bad word for folks, he focused on the positive things
that were going on (he told me how he had a software product close to
being ready), and he had a very real sense of calm and peace about him
that rubbed off on you.
He will be missed.

3412.3 | A few thoughts | NASZKO::GILFIX | | Tue Sep 27 1994 15:32 | 11 |
| Dimitri was a wonderful man. He was free-spirited, philosophical, and
idealist. He frequently advocated how things 'should' be done --
especially vis-a-vis U.S. engineering/manufacturing. He was young at
heart, enjoying rugby matches, hiking, and camping most of his life.
During the CALS days, Dimitri made me laugh, gave my work life more
meaning, and assured me that youth and vigor don't necessarily leave
after 50.
I really missed him when he took the package; now I miss him even more.
I am sad not to know of his illness or pain.

good ones....

3412.6 | Farewell to a friend | GLDOA::WERNER | | Wed Sep 28 1994 09:28 | 9 |
| As one of the old timers still left around here, it is saddening to
hear of the loss of one of the truely good guys that I've had the
pleasure of working with several times. Dmitri was a class guy,
personable, technically very knowledgeable, always a gentleman and
always fun to be around. There aren't many like him left anywhere. He will
be missed by those who knew him and those who had not yet met him will
indeed miss an opportunity in their lives.
Rest well my friend.

3412.7 | My prayers are with Dimitri's wife, Diane | MPGS::MILTON | Kathi Milton, 226-7155, @LKG | Wed Sep 28 1994 17:39 | 12 |
| Oh.. I am so sadden by this notefile. I worked in Personnel 26 years
ago when Dimitri was hired. I signed him up for his benefit package,
as small as it was in those days. He was so kind, softspoken, a
gentleman and very smart. I hadn't seen Dimitri for almost 20 years
when I bumped into him a couple of months before he left Digital. I
reintroduced myself, and he said that it wasn't necessary as he
remembered who I was and that we worked in Personnel together. My
heart aches for his wife, family and friends. I'm sure God has a
special place for him. He was truely a special human being.

3412.8 | Needed: more like Dimitri | ALFA2::WS19::HARRIS | | Thu Sep 29 1994 13:56 | 15 |
| Dimitri was a neighbor of mine and was in no small way responsible for
the 20-plus years I spent at Digital. Everything that has been written
about him in this note is right on. He never turned down a request for
help, never complained about the workload, always sought to bring accord
to people and issues. His humor was gentle, as was everything else about
him, and his smile was irresistible.
If the world were full of Dimitris, we would all be out playing rugby,
hiking, biking, talking earnestly, exploring new things, exchanging
stories, enjoying genuine humor, and believing in ourselves and in each
other.
Bon voyage, cher ami, je te souhaite une eternit pleine de joie et de paix...
Mac
