3349.0. "Buying software projects from Digital?" by BALZAC::EVTSG8::BULMER () Thu Aug 25 1994 09:35
Digital is in the process of reviewing some of its software portfolio,
and as a result, software projects, ASSETS, and even corporate products
are being retired or considered for sale.
Retired products/projects no longer earn money for Digital. There are
software houses, many of them staffed by former Digital employees, who
are interested in taking over these products.
How does one go about finding out if a retired product is for sale? Who
does one contact if there is no product manager (as in the case of a
project) and no current project leader? Who determines the price and
what are the conditions of sales? Are existing customer contacts,
licensing databases, etc., included with the sale of the software?
Thanks,
Cheryl

| The Corporate Licensing Office can also help, especially for software
products/projects that did not make it to market. This includes
projects that were canceled before FRS or internal-only software
technologies. Contact Dick Greeley (DTN 223-5794 or POWDML::RGREELEy)
for more information.
