| Ah, that explains the vultures I've been seeing flying around the
building.

| Turns out that they're ramping up their consulting, outsourcing, SI
business. The article talks about how much opportunity there is out
there, the growth rates some companies are having... Then says, the
notable exception is Digital Consulting, which may be sold. We're
ranked 4th in size.

| EVENTUALLY HP will run into the same problems now hammering Digital.
When you seek to become all things to all people, those things
you do best are soon overshadowed by those things you do poorly.

| I ran into a senior VP from HP Europe at a tradeshow yesterday, and
bluntly asked why they are starting a consultancy business. His answer
was that their direct sales force was a bunch of excellent box-pushers,
and they probably squeezed most of these folks as it is. They want to
be a full partner to their customers, and be able to translate their
business needs into IT solutions, based on HP hardware, partners'
software and solutions and manage the whole process themselves.
Sounds familiar?

If Digital was not in the hole it is, I am sure we will not be
considering selling DC.
