found that DEC stock was trading... not sure what the problem was...
seems there is rumour that Q4 numbers may the stuff of a B graded

It's probably Digital shares. In the last ten days, we've already had
one day where more than a million shares were traded, and today is the
day that many people buy and immediately sell stock they purchase
through the ESPP. I'd say 2.6 million shares in one day is entirely
possible.

| Cisco set a record 40m shares traded just last week, so 2m isn't
*that* unusual. It is about 5x normal volume for DEC, but that's
to be expected with the ESPP sales. kb

| I just tried to sell my stock through VTX and get the message 'that
information is not available' when I choose the sell stock form.
Is this an indiocation the system is overloaded, or has IS suspended
selling our stock?

A: Access the Sell Form, fill in ALL for # Shares to Sell, 01-Jun-1994
for the Purchase Date, and E for the Plan Type. (Valid pre-selling
dates for June 1st are May 1 - May 31th, 12:00 noon Eastern US

Those dates are for PRE-selling. You can sell your stock anytime. I
think there's a problem with some VTX "pieces" and it seems to be
pretty intermittent....

| The news report was that Standard and Poor's was considering
downgrading DEC's credit rating. Considering that the last I
heard was that we were 1 step above junk bonds, I'd guess we're
headed into the cellar.

the two following stories, there was a one liner about our stock being

Subj: RESEARCH ALERT - Morgan Stanley raises DEC <DEC.N>
Date: 95-10-13 11:31:18 EDT
From: [email protected]
-- Morgan Stanley analyst Steven Milunovich said he raised
his recommendation on Digital Equipment Corp to outperform from
neutral.
-- Milunovich cited DEC embracing Microsoft Corp's <MSFT.O>
Windows NT operating systems, DEC's emphasis on 64-bit
computing and increased server sales that could increase the
company's gross margins, the key to getting earnings higher.
-- He declined to comment on current market speculation
about DEC being perceived as a possible takeover candidate.
-- The analyst has a 12-month target price of 60 a share.
-- Shares gained 2-1/2 to 48-5/8.
Subj: RESEARCH ALERT - Digital <DEC.N> raised to buy
Date: 95-10-13 13:40:11 EDT
From: [email protected]
-- Prudential Securities analyst Laura Conigliaro said she
raised her rating on Digital Equipment Corp to buy from hold on
improving news from the company and its markets about DEC's
Alpha servers and personal computers.
-- She declined to comment on current market speculation
about DEC being perceived as a possible takeover candidate.
-- On the rating change she said there has been
"increasingly positive news on Digital that we have been
picking over last weeks in contrast to kind of news we were
hearing around June when we lowered our rating."
-- She added, "The good news centers around Alpha Servers,
and PCs to a lesser extent. There are pockets of critical mass
of demand. Surveys are positive and trade journals are more
positive, and Alpha server growth is stronger than originally
expected.
-- Conigliaro said her six to 12 month target for the stock
is 55.
-- Shares gained 2-1/4 to 48-3/4.

| Microsoft stock is on the up-surge this week..... It went from about 83 or
something to something around 100 (not sure of the exact numbers). This
was based on their Q1 results (up 62% on last year).
Maybe with our Q1 results next week, and our new alliance with
Microsoft they are expecting the same thing??

Any ideas????
