The obvious reply would be for you to ask your manager and your
PSA, in that order.

2706.2 | Short term VS. Long Term DIsability | 24952::NORRIS | | Tue Oct 12 1993 14:26 | 9 |
| I believe it may have something to do with the fact that you will be
on short term disability for 13 weeks, then you go on long term. At
that time you will begin receiving your compensation from Traveler's
insurance, not Digital payroll.
You should verify this with personnel.

| Word to the wise: Watch out for other direct deduction such as
car insurance, etc. I almost lost my car insurance because no one
warned or informed me that those deductions weren't being made and i
was too sick to think about it. Also, when you do return from work
follow up any missing paychecks at once. When I returned to work it was
weeks before my paychecks came through on time - one a week.
Best of luck and hope you make a great recovery.

2706.4 | Direct deductions - you're on your own | ICS::NELSONK | | Tue Oct 12 1993 16:55 | 14 |
| Any deductions you have outside of taxes, like medical/life
insurance, SAVE Plan, etc., are your responsibility while on STD
(and I guess on LTD as well). When I was on STD with my second child,
I took a few extra weeks' parental leave. I had to pay for my
insurance while I was on unpaid leave. My SAVE deductions were
suspended. The money was still there when I came back. This was in
June 1991, so I don't know if things have changed or not. Ask your
PSA/manager. Also (my $.02), keep asking questions till you're
satisfied that you understand what will happen to your paycheck and
your deductions while you are on STD/LTD.
Good luck. Hope you get well soon.

2706.5 | The answers | USDEV::CFEUERSTEIN | | Mon Oct 18 1993 10:41 | 19 |
| Well, I finally found the answers I was researching and I thought I would
share it with everyone, in case someone else needs the information.
Let's start at the beginning:
o I will receive 100% of my salary till I'm 65 or retire.
o I am considered to be a Digital employee, as such I will continue to
accrue years towards retirement.
o I am not allowed, due to Federal laws, to belong to a 401k plan. So,
no SAVE plan contirbutions. However, the balance left will continue to
accrue interest and I may take out the money when I retire.
o All my deductions stay the same, for 13 weeks. However, on the 14th week
I start on LTD and my deductions for Heath, Life, dental and family insurance
will stop and are all company paid. The loans with DCU and my insurance with
MET will continue.
I think that's all of the critcal issues. If I think of anything else, I post it here.
