	The last time I was at the PDC store they a had a large box of used VHS casettes of various lengths for sale at ($mumble) apiece. It may not be the type of recycling you had in mind, but . . . -Jack

	I have a couple of suggestions for the recycling/reuse of video tapes. We get asked about this fairly frequently. First, the length of the tape makes a difference. Many commercially duplicated tapes are "cut to length", so a 20 minute program has only that much tape, whereas if you buy a 60 minute tape at K-Mart and record 20 minute, then you still have a tape capable of recording the full time length. If the tape is longer than 30 minutes, and especially if it is one-hour or longer, contact your local DVN Site Coordinator (you can find their names and locations in LIVEWIRE) to see if they can use them to record programs for local use. Many people do not know about the record protection tabs that have been pulled off of commercially recorded or duplicated videos. These tapes can be re-used by simply putting a piece of tape over that hole (a square hole at the outside edge of the housing where you put the label).
