    Austin, Texas - After only 15 months at Apple's chip design facility,
    CPU design heavyweight Rich Witek is rejoining Digital Equipment Corp.
    in September to lead a design team at the Austin wireless/mobile design
    center. One of the masterminds behind Alpha AXP, Witek also helped
    build DECnet, MicroVAX, and assorted other RISC architectures.

    And four others... In fact the staff of the centre in Austin all had
    left Digital (in Hudson, Mass.) and are now re-joining. And it's GREAT

    SUBJ: Greg Hoeppner, Ray Stephany, and Jim Montanaro Rejoin DIGITAL
    
    Greg, Ray, and  Jim  together  with  Rich  Witek  and  Gerry  Cheney 
    will constitute the Southwest chapter of the Palo Alto Design Center.  
    With the exception of one additional position, this completes the planned 
    staffing in Austin.  Further staffing of the PADC will take place in 
    Palo Alto.
    The Austin group will be concentrating  on  the  Advanced  Development of
    hand-held  portable computing systems and associated components as well
    as consulting on the design of low power ALPHA microprocessors.

	Last I heard from Martin he was still happy at Apple. 

	RE: .3 Yes, Martin did work at the Mill at times.
