        A while ago, there was a request by someone who was trying to solve
        a very complex mathematical equation posted in this conference, I
        think.

        He requested access to workstations across the company during off
        hours in order to do heavy duty calculations with their combined
        power.

        I'd like to contact that requester, but I can't find his
        original note here or in ASKENET.

        Is he still with Digital?  Can anyone remember his name/node?

	The gentleman you are looking for is no longer with the company. If you need to contact him, I have his new number. It wasn't out of the Palto Alto group, the request was generated out of Landover, MD. The extra cycles from the worksatations was used to defend his Doctoral dissertation. 	However the mechanisms have been useful for other reasons. Several extremely large numbers, have since been factored. There is a notes conference at VMSZOO::FACTOR, but it looks fairly quiet nowadays.. q
