Subject: COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT

In February, the Senior Leadership Team approved a consolidation plan for
Corporate Communications that would reflect the changes in Digital's business
model and provide support for our business communications into the future. The
consolidation is designed to help us communicate more efficiently with all of
our internal and external audiences.

As a first step in implementing our plan, I am pleased to announce the names of
some of the senior managers who will report to me in this new consolidated
communications function, effective July 1.

Brand Communications will be managed by Janet Shipman, who has
been communications manager for Professional Services and was program
manager for our recently launched brand identity campaign. Janet's
responsibilities will include advertising, brand management and
marketing public relations. She will also provide communications
support to Professional Services, Product Marketing, Semiconductor
Operations (SCO) and the various integrated marketing campaigns.

Business Unit Communications will be managed by Brian Coll, who has
been Communications Manager in the Canadian territory. In this
position Brian will provide the management point of contact within
the Communications function for the individual business unit
    communications managers.

Communications Services will be managed by Bob Gregorio, who has been
manager of Marketing Communications within Corporate Communications.
Bob's group is responsible for sales support communications,
collateral materials, trade shows, events and direct marketing
communications. Bob will also support the Corporate Sales Staff and
serve as the management contact in Communications for support
functions including human resources, finance and acquisition.

Corporate Communications will be managed by Art Fiacco, who was
manager of Corporate Communications Programs. Art will be
responsible for Corporate Public Relations, Employee Communications
and for communications to various external audiences including
analysts. He will also provide communications support to the
Corporate Staffs and the Office of the President.

GIA Communications will continue to be managed by Pat Gunning.

European Communications will continue to be managed by
    Gordon Moultrie.

We will announce more details on the organization and additional
management appointments in the coming weeks.
