EXECUTIVE OPERATIONS
MAYNARD, MA -- January 27, 1993 -- Digital Equipment Corporation
today announced the appointment of Adriana Stadecker as Vice
President, Executive Operations, reporting to Robert B. Palmer,
president and CEO.
Stadecker, 46, has been managing the company's redesign and
restructuring efforts and working with the senior management team
to lead the implementation of the new company direction. In this
new position, she also will be responsible for overseeing the
process of developing strategic and operational plans for achieving
the company's short- and long-term financial and business
objectives.
Commenting on the appointment, Palmer said, "Adriana is playing
a key role in transforming Digital into a more customer-focused and
more competitive company. Her work is pivotal to building the

the company to profitability. She brings a record of success in
developing business strategies and managing worldwide business
plans."
She joined Digital in 1981 and has served in a series of
business planning and human resource management positions. In 1987,
as a group manager in the Printed Wiring Board (PWB) Group, she was
responsible for the worldwide PWB strategic plan. Stadecker was
named group personnel manager, Semiconductor and Interconnect
Technology, in 1988. Prior to joining the Office of the President
in October, 1992, she managed the program office responsible for
planning and implementing Digital's supply chain change effort and
was the Worldwide Manufacturing and Logistics human resource
manager. Before joining Digital, she held a variety of university
and government agency research, development, and planning positions
in the U.S., and prior to that was a practicing architect in
Argentina.
Stadecker received a Ph.D. in planning from Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1975; and a Master's degree in
Architecture from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, in

I wouldn't jump to this conclusion. Being on the board of directors of
another company doesn't mean you leave the company you work for. Wasn't
KO on the BOD of Ford?

| In fact, more often than not, those who sit on corporate boards of
directors are active executives or officers of other corporations.
Conspiracy theorists like to complain about "interlocking directorships"
where the same set of executives sit as members of each other's boards and
so one small group of people controls large sections of the economy.
