Are the rumored bonuses that upper managers got part of the monies
needed to purchase the Roxbury plant?

| NOw, if we had chosen to spin off little parts of our company, and seed
the organization with Venture Capital, rhater than layoff money. I
think we'd be much better off...

| Margin? Who needs margin? target your market. Don't overcapitalize.
Provide good service, and business will beat a path to your door.
What we seem to have confused, is that in spite of the fact that we are
a Multi Billion dollar corporation, we manage it like a mom and pop
operation, yet put on a the front of a "Too busy to do business with
you, cos we are making money..." What we need is the reverse. A front
line that makes each and every customer think that they have just
bought a computer from some of the nicest people in the world, who will
look after them above all else, but with the corporate might behind
them, that can make things happen ahead of time to keep that front line
care and attention happening...

| I worked in Manufacturing in the early 80s, and in my opinion, making
cables has never been a core competency of the Company, and never will
be. We made cables because it was necessary, whether it made money or
not.

| Well, what would *you* do if (hypothetically):
The current owner of a plant is willing to help you purchase said
plant, and at a reduced price,
Said current owner is a ready-made customer for the product of said
plant and possibly agrees to purchase everything you can make, and
Local city is willing to grant favorable concessions for the next 5 or
10 years
I'd at least run the numbers, and I bet I'd be able to find a profit in there.

I hope everyone realizes this would be a non-Digital business, though Digital
might continue to own the plant for while.
This was a good idea when it was proposed several years ago. Why is it taking
so long to put it into effect?

| The trouble with old notes is that things change...
The Roxbury plant, owned by the city, is being turned over to a biotech
operation of some sort. THe city just recently made its decision.
Digital's ex-managers were not in the final running.
