2321.0. "Digital at a Glance -- says it all" by SMAUG::GARROD (From VMS -> NT; Unix a mere page from history) Mon Jan 11 1993 22:44

I was looking at VTX LIVEWIRE and happened to take a look at option
98 (Digital at a Glance). I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I
read the mission and strategy statements.

    Read on,

	So, whats a site?

REO covers DECpark, Acre Road, Winnersh , this is three facilities,
have you counted it as one site, because of the one site code?

(it could be 5 if shire hall anf heckfiled still have nodes registered)

Well I suppose there's some comfort in the fact that those figures are
    American rather than European billions.

Or for DIGITAL'S STRATEGY, it could just say "See WANG's strategy
    statement."

Wow... Someone posts an observation in this conference on the 11th, and
by the 13th the VTX database is updated...

Personally, I thought the original was appropriate...

I don't think "sites" equate to "facilities". For example, the CXO site
consists of a Customer Service Center, a Manufacturing facility, and an
Engineering facility, each of which is considered as a separate, independantly
managed entity even though a couple of them share a building. There might even
be other (smaller?) entities depending how you break them out.

2321.10Amazing how quickly some things can be doneSMAUG::GARRODFrom VMS -> NT; Unix a mere page from historyWed Jan 13 1993 17:0010
Amazingly quick response. Note that whoever updated the VTX infobase
didn't update the header. It still says Updated: 26-Oct-92

I must admit I'm a bit peeved by it being updated by removing the
headers rather than inserting mission and strategy statement.

    Dave

PS Whoever updated it didn't even thank me for pointing out this
       strange data.

I figure each site has a site code.

I can think of half a dozen sites, that have no network connected
dialups on line, but do have terminals muxed to another facility...

VTX to the rescue.

On any VTX page you can enter <PF1><KP4> ("GOLD, KEYPAD 4") and it will
show the date the page was last created. For the page in question, it now
says "13-JAN-1993".
