|  |   I assume these parts are scrap. Recently Digital has made a major effect to
"do something" with scrap parts: reuse them if they are fit to reuse and if
not reusable, recycle the materials in the parts and not just take them to
the dump.
  There is a VTX database, VTX WASTE, that is supposed to be a resource for
this. I just checked it and most of the info is two years old. So the problem
is to find UP-TO-DATE info on the corporate waste management program.

    Steve,
    	Try putting an add in CAPNET::DELTA_SWAPSHOP, this file was created
    just for situations like yours.  People looking for things that aren't
    generally available anymore or they just can't find them ask for them
    there.  Also folks like you with something to give away list it there
    so people know where it is.

|  |     Now if you would have kept a service agreement with digital, all
    field/digital/multi vendor service engineers are trained in the latest
    recycling programs. ( WE RECYCLE ALMOST EVERYTHING ). Most likly the
    RZ55's and the SYSTEM BOARDS would be sent back to a repair center
    for repair, then redistributed back to the field to be reused at a
    fraction of the cost of either purchasing new one or building new ones.
    Not to mention keeping digital employees working which intern allows
    then to spend there pay checks, which may allows us to sell some
    computers systems to the businesses that are prospering from people
    in the work force. Internal service agreements, in my opinion are a
    waste of admin resources. Where all digtial, why does the right hand
    have to pay the left hand? Does this save us money?

    Hello,
    
    A department handling recycling/refurbishing waste equipment is located
    also in The Netherlands. Digital Nijmegen(E.S.S.C.) just has setup this
    new project.

There is no way you would know what those parts went through, 
the fact that they work when you test them does not mean they are 
as reliable as new ones. A paying customer will not be happy if 
he knew he did not get what he paid for. 
There is a lot of value added quality work put in our products. 
We should not jeopardize such work to save some scrap components..at 
least as long as we claim to be a quality organization. 
Remember when a failure does occur it costs much more than the component price.
i do not object using parts for internal use.
