2307.0. "Voluntary Attrition" by POBOX::TANZMAN (Howard Tanzman) Mon Jan 04 1993 18:41
Attrition:
We have experienced significant voluntary attrition here. Last month, 3
individuals quit on the same day, 2 sales support, 1 sales, all
well-regarded. There seems to be a number of issues:
1) Loss of confidence in Digital -- does anyone know whether the
company will survive, let alone prosper?
2) Loss of the TFSO safety net -- An individual might gamble on
Digital's future, if they have TFSO to bail them out, but with the shortened
TFSO, a prudent person has to keep their eyes open for opportunities, and
consider seeking them out.
3) Morale -- its hard to work when morale is lacking, and there do not
appear to be any morale improving programs in place. There doesn't appear
to be any effort to retain key personnel.
Recently, I added myself to the voluntary attrition statistics. I wish
all of you good luck.

| Howard --
You are doing exactly what the company wants you to do. All of the
benefit take-aways are done in part to encourage voluntary attrition.
Your note doesn't surprise me at all.

It's sad but I have to agree. You go and the company has one less
person to lay off and has not spent one thin dime in doing it. They
seem to want at least some of us to go. Does not give one much feeling
of worth to the company. But best wishes to you on your new adventure,
I am probally right behind you. In these times you have to look out
for yourself because no one else will.
