| In ELF, Z's organizational unit is list as U.S. AREA MANAGEMENT. That
is the cost center where TFSOd U.S. employees go for the first nine
weeks of their package that they are still officially employees. So,
it would appear that VPs aren't immune.

Don WAS US Area Management! The fact that others are pulled in there is
a finance/personnel administrative process. There are others in that
heading who ARE, in fact, US Area Management!

That's funny because the 35 who were TFSO'd in my Org, I work in
Maynard Ma. USA, 10 weeks ago mysteriously were put in that Org.
They are no longer listed in ELF as the 9 weeks are up.

Yes I noticed that too. "US AREA MANAGEMENT" used to be the flag that
somebody was TSFOed "CENTRAL GROUP" appears to be the latest euphemism.
So that implies ZERESKI hasn't been TSFOed (yet...).

| I'm pretty sure there was an announcement a month or two
ago that Zereski had been given some new position (something to
do with increasing revenue). It was the kind of position that
sounded like a holding tank until he could find a new position
outside of DEC.

| I don't know the strategy behind placing TFSO'd emloyees into
various organizations but I can tell you, my group had some TFSO'd
people back in August/September and some of us tracked the
organization deal for a few weeks. We stopped watching after
realizing that the TFSO'd people seemed to change organizations every
week or two.
For what it's worth, back in early September when our TFSO'd
people mere moved into "U S AREA MANAGEMENT", we also noticed that
Don Zereski was classified there too. I guess that means if he IS
being TFSO's, DEC is keeping his name for a long time anyhow.
Something, I sincerely doubt...

The transition cost center, to which one is assigned, is dependent upon
the organization for which the individual worked. Tracking a single
transitioned employee's cost center may tell you nothing about another
transitioned employee's cost center.
Greg
PS: The same may apply in the case of tracking multiple employees from the same
organization.

is being used as the "transitional" Cost Center, cross-functionally, and
without regard to the organization for which the individual worked.
There are 159 names in the ZB9 cost center category for this geography,
as of 18-NOV-1992.

| This is getting to be a real need. It is getting to the point that it
is becoming extremely difficult to do business in this organization.
The number of times I have sent mail to people in the last month, only
to find, after not getting an answer back, after a while, that they
have been transitioned, is infuriating. In some cases, they have been
gone for 3-4 months, their nodes are still receiving mail, (which isn't
being forwarded) and they are still in elf.

I've seen the same thing time and time again. I get told that so
and so is a good reference for something I'm working on. Try to
get in touch with them only to find out they are gone.
If a TFSO'd account is DISUSERED it ought to be DISMAIL'd and/or
DISNEWMAIL'd as well. The inference would be there and one wouldn't
have to wait for no reply.

Data General - Names former Digital executive as VP
{The Boston Globe, 13-Oct-93, p. 38}
Data General named Donald P. Zereski, a longtime Digital executive, as VP of
its systems integration business unit. Zereski said DG appealed to him
because the $1.1 billion company has "very, very cleverly moved into open
systems architecture and has really dedicated themselves to providing open
systems, hardware, software and now total solutions. My job is to help
customers integrate that." For the past year Zereski has been running his own
consulting firm, advising Eastern European countries on information
technology. Before that, he worked 30 years at Digital, most recently as VP
of US area operations. He was the only Digital employee to work in all of its
three international areas, and said that experience understanding different
international customs, training and cultural diversity will serve him well at
Data General.
