2194.1 | Not official but... | DELNI::SUMNER | | Mon Nov 02 1992 22:23 | 9 |
| Try posting a note in the {OASS,WARIOR}::JOBS notes file.
If you give some requirements, positions or contacts I bet
you'll have responses up the wazoo. I don't think the
conference is considered "official" but it has become an
active and trusted method for exchanging information about
jobs and talent.

2194.2 | TSFOed only method | TOOHOT::ROCHA | | Tue Nov 03 1992 10:48 | 12 |
| .1, I had that same idea too. But, I figured the entry would be set
hidden or removed. I don't thing that conference allows recruiting for
outside positions. Mater of fact, I once asked a moderator of that
conference and was told no. The idea is to reach the TSFOed.
I have an entry in the JOBS conference about a temporary assignment and
have received two calls from outside firms who are placing ex-DECies.
I'd like to find these same people without the placement fees
associated with these outside firms...

| Doesn't DEC contract with an outside firm for outplacement services?
I think you could inform this firm of your customer's needs with DEC's blessing.

2194.4 | Make some calls | WFOV12::MOKRAY | | Tue Nov 03 1992 11:04 | 3 |
| Drake Beam Morin is the outside contract agency. Phone is
508-480-3892. Someone there could probably help. I'd also contact
Personnel/US Employment at MSO and tell them about the opportunity.

| Ed,
Call Lynn Kraft for the DBM outplacement service in our
area (I'm assuming you're in TFO, too).

2194.6 | DBM = no fee! | TOOHOT::ROCHA | | Tue Nov 03 1992 12:33 | 8 |
| .4, Thanks! Drake Beam Morin is the correct "no fee" source for TSFOed
ex-DECies. Their free number is 1-800-359-6525. Note that they have
offices in most states and a global database. But, with the current
level of activity, local databases do exist. Therefore, you might want
to have your customer notify numerous sites where the skills they need
or more likely to reside...

| The Jobs conference seems to have relaxed its rules a bit lately.
I've seen "customer slots" posted there.

2194.8 | OK - I'll try it | TOOHOT::ROCHA | | Thu Nov 05 1992 12:23 | 4 |
| re -1,: I'll give it a try. The worst that happens is it gets hidden
or removed.

Try something else.

2194.11 | equal application of the rules? | TOOHOT::ROCHA | | Fri Nov 06 1992 18:26 | 6 |
| I just check too, and they are GONE!. Interesting, 4192 is still
there - it is for positions at Litton...

| I would guess that it would not be acceptable to advertise job openings
which are of interest to people Digital _wants_ to keep to those people.
So, you need to find methods which advertise only to the TFSO pool, in
order to get the word out.
For example, if those 50 positions were for people who had skills which
Digital still values, it would not be in Digital's interest to have all
employees know about them. At best, it would result in renegotiation of
salaries, since a "hot" company looking to ramp up fast would make some
"above average" offers. At worst, it would result in a brain drain...
