	At the talk he gave in ZKO a week or so ago, someone asked him
	if he considered starting a new company. He joked about starting
	an "ENCORE II", but seemed to indicate that he'd be disinclined
	from starting something new. Any other attendees get a different 
	notion?

    I didn't attend, but can't see KO restarting anything at his age.
    
    Sorry and all that, but this isn't a mickey rooney "lets just satrt a
    company here!" scenario.

    Well a member of my extended family was older than KO when he
    VERY successfully expanded the family business by an order of
    magnitude.  Built a new building, expanded services, succeded.
    It's all a matter of motivation...mwr

    As the quote goes which Ken made several times...
    
    And when I'm gone,.. I'm gone. I'll go fishing. (Of course that was
    all when it was his choice to go and as I understand from what he said
    the day he "resigned" during the talk to the engineers he described
    what had been happening and how he was ultimately "fired."

    First, buy 17 rivers. Stock two with fish. Use the other 15 to store
    dead fish. After a while, sell the dead fish at a loss. Hire a 
    Strategic Resources Manager to cut losses from sale of dead fish.
    Promote him to VP. Close one of the two stocked river because
    VP salary cuts into stocking budget. Reduce stocking budget of
    remaining river to fund R&D on 'how to improve fishing.'

    	You forgot about launching an extensive hardware campaign for the 
    	new line of rods and reels that would surely be needed...after all,
    	he is basically a hardware engineer.  Probably see him on
    	those cable fishing shows that are aired on the weekends, right 
    	after the "Amazing, Flying Lure"...That would, of course, be
    	contingent upon the board deciding to do T.V. advertising...
    

    The coincidence of H Ross Perot bowing out of the Presidential race, KO
    and John Young of HP announcing their retirements on  the same day was
    bound to stimulate speculation.  How many believe that they had a
    secret meeting and agreed to the timing to keep the press from
    crucifying any of them?

    well, what I've heard is that he is taking over PKO2 facility and
    making it into a sandbox operation to do some work on, I think,
    "modular computing"...he's bringing in some of his favorite DEC
    engineering types to work with him; don't know who's funding this

    	I had the same impression from his talk in ZKO that he WOULDN'T
    consider starting over again. But then again, I spotted K.O. talking to
    Elvis at a hotdog stand in Wilton, N.H. the other day...

	That couldn't have been K.O. I understand he's following Bill Clinton
around during his campaign, handing out turkey sandwiches !

    I drove by Ken's house yesterday and there was a pickup with a canoe
    in the back. I guess he is starting fishing a little earlier than
    Oct. 1.

	I don't think that it is unusual for a retired President or
	CEO (especially one who has served a long time) to be given
	office space.

    rumor is Ken is buying a plant in NH to spawn one of his projects,
    and is taking a senior consulting Engineer with him!

    I'd love to see him do it all over again...
