FOR YOUR INFORMATION
This evening, Thursday, June 18th, Mr. Rick Distasio, Vice President of
Government Services for Digital, will be the guest speaker at the graduation
ceremonies of Colorado Technical College. It is no accident that he has
consented to do this. As a part of a developing multi-facited relationship
with the college, it was mutually agreed by both parties that Rick would use
the occasion to make two Digital announcements:
1) An expansion and re-focus of the Government Services Group to offer
multi-vendor Systems Integration Services. This will open many doors
to new styles of business within the aerospace, agency and defense community.
It will be managed here under Max Cameron. This addition to their Digital
services portfolio requires some new logistics and program management skills.
As a result, they have hired 3 of the graduates of Colorado Tech to complement
their existing skill base.
2) A new business in the CXO complex, that of the Regional Customer
Distribution Center (1 of 2 in the U.S.). This is a major part of the
diversification of Digital's business population in Colorado Springs, other
tenants will follow. All Western U.S. customer shipments will be staged in
this facility beginning in August. We will increase customer satisfaction
and cash flow by shipping complete orders twice as fast as it can be done
today. Percy Jackson will manage the operation and employ about 25 people
initially and grow to 100 employees over the next 2 years.
The underlying message (and a very important one) is that Digital is investing
in and diversifying it's Colorado Springs location because we are willing to
change and are trying to do the right things for the corporation (not for
individual business self-interest). You can feel very good about that.
The media have been invited to this event, and we will have a fair amount of
positive visibility on the 10 O'clock news tonight (Ch 5, 11), the
Gazette on Friday, and monthly business papers down the rode.

Rick,
Colorado Technical College had its graduation last night. Rick
Distasio, Vice President for Government Services was the guest speaker.
He was scheduled to make a couple of announcements at the graduation:
1. An expansion and re-focus of the Government Services group to offer
multi-vendor Systems Integration Services, to be managed at the
Colorado Springs facility. There are supposed to be 3 college hires
from Colorado Tech to complement the existing skill base.
2. A new business in the CXO complex, that of Regional Customer
Distribution Center. All Western U.S. customer shipments will be staged
in the facility beginning in August.
The media was invited to the event, and probably aired on the 10:00
P.M. news. Since Digital is a major employer in Colorado Springs (~3000
employees?), this would be viewed very positively.
Since I now report into Colorado Springs, I heard about this yesterday.
HTH,
Kevin

| re .8:
As I recall, the Gazette Telegraph article which discussed our press release
stated we would be consolidating the current 18 distribution centers into 2
(Colorado Springs and Westminister, MA). They did not provide any more details.
I don't know what this means to any other facility.
