In today's WSJ, there is a book review (p. A14 in my edition) which
reviews "The Icarus Paradox" and cites DEC as a firm which "made the
trip" "from riches to rags" by starting as "craftsman organization
with masterful engineers and airtight operations [which] turned into
rigidly controlled detail-obsessed tinkerers whose insular,
technocratic culture alienates customers with perfect but irrelevant
products."  (First quotes from the article, last from the book.)

It is doubtless a coincidence that even though the Dow set a record
yesterday, DEC was down.
