1654.0. "Less pay if you are injured on the job????" by VSSCAD::FORTMILLER (Ed Fortmiller, LTN1-2, 226-6188) Wed Oct 30 1991 15:51

From page 6.2 of the 1991 Benefits book:

"Your short-term disability plan(s) provides income protection for up to six
months of total disability. Covering your for illness or injuries that are
NON JOB-RELATED and ...

Wage Class	Short-term plan Income benefit
4 Salary Continuation Plan	100% of your base salary for
						up to six months"

From page 6.16 of the 1991 Benefits book:

"Short-term disability. If you are eligible for Workers' Compensation, you
are NOT ELIGIBLE FOR BENEFITS UNDER ANY OF DIGITAL'S SHORT-TERM DISABILITY
PLANS. However, if your Workers' Compensation payments are less than 60% of
your base salary, Digital will provide an income supplement for up to six
months."

I read this to be that if one were to have identical injuries that for the
work related injury your weekly pay during the 6 months would be less than
if you were injured off the job. If this is true it doesn't seem fair.
Please correct me if I'm not reading the book correctly.

re: .0 Injuries on the job are covered under workers compensation and
are regulated by state and federal laws. Non work related injuries are
covered under the health plans you have signed up for and the short
term and long term (if applicable) disability policies in the P&P
    manual.

If you would like the correct answer instead of a raft of opinion, why
not send a note to Ed Brady (ICS::BRADY), US Comp/Benefits Mgr, asking
for a clarification? I have used his office on several occasions, with
    excellent results.
