of Mass. Buying Power ? Does anyone have current info on Mass Buy?

    Thanks,

    Re: .0
Yes, Digital employees are members of Mass. Buying Power.

    Re: .1
Mass. Buying Power is a service which obtains discounts on
major purchases. Things like dishwashers, cars, stereo equipment,
etc. For some small items such as stereo equipment you can walk
into Percys of Worcester, show your DEC badge, and receive the
discounted price without any paperwork. For other items, or at
other locations, you need to call Mass. Buying Power and tell them
what you want, SPECIFICALLY, and they will mail you a list of
places you can go to and someone to speak to. The person you
speak to is usually an assistant Mgr. or someone like that. They
then assist you and provide the Mass Buying Power discount.
I have found that for small purchases at Percys it works out
well. I also have tried it on a Chevy Blazer and found it to
not always provide the best deal. You may also not be treated with
    the utmost of courtesy.

I have used Mass buying power in the past (when I lived in Mass)
but now that I'm in New York, am I still entitled to Mass buying power?

I'd say yes. As I live in N.H. and have used it. In your case, like
mine, you will be sent somewhere in Mass that's close to your home,
    hopfuly.

1337.6ADDRESS & PHONE #MENSCH::SCARDIGNOTue Jan 29 1991 08:1814

Their address and phone number are:

        MASS BUYING POWER, INC.
        1616 Soldiers Field Rd.
        Brighton, MA 02135

        (617)782-7131 or 7132

I used them for a car purchase in '87. Best deal, PLUS I didn't
have to do the "bargaining games" with the salesman. I'd
probably buy my next car through them, also (after I had a "feel"
        for prices).

I've brought two cars thru Mass Buying Power, the first time (Mercury
Tracer) I felt I got a good deal, the second time (Mazda Protege) the
dealer quoted me a price I felt was outrageous, since he was 50 miles
away and there was a local dealer I went there and got the car for
$1000 less. I guess it still pays to shop around.

I am sure this does not belong in this conference but then again I am
not sure which one it would fit into.

Anyway, I am wondering if anybody has heard of and used Mass buying
power to purchase a new vehicle. Does it still exist? is it a hassle?
    who do you call et.......
