1287.0. "Reimbursement for Courses, Spring '91 ?" by EAGLE1::BRUNNER (Moonbase Alpha) Fri Nov 30 1990 02:01
Hello,
Recently, I received a memo forwarded from Bill Morse which described a
program to curtail spending. Among other things, the memo said that all
external training and education programs should be stopped except for those
that were either direct revenue producing or critical reskilling efforts
(unless approved by a VP signature).
What I am trying to figure out is how this affects the career-related
semester-long course I am planning to take next semester. Will I get
reimbursed for this course if my manager approves and signs?
In light of this memo, my manager was a bit uncertain about this so I
checked with my PSA. The PSA said she hadn't heard anything which said
I wouldn't get reimbursed, but, said she would check.
Does anyone know the real answer? Has anyone recently received approval for
reimbursement for next semester?
thanks.

We got a memo yesterday from very high in The New Software Group,
stating that the training cost control measures do not apply to
"college/university degree programs", but specifically apply
to "'external' conferences and seminars".
Your mileage may vary.
