1241.0. "NOVEMBER 29 PDP-1 EVENT" by DUGGAN::PEARSON () Tue Oct 23 1990 15:00
An Invitation
THIRTY YEARS OF INTERACTIVE COMPUTING
In 1960, Digital introduced its first computer, the PDP-1, and a world
of interactive computing opened up. From Spacewar, the first video
game, to timesharing, to early word processing, the PDP-1 offered users
much flexibility.
On Thursday, November 29 at 4:00 pm in the MRO4 amphitheatre in
Marlboro, the beginnings of interactive computing will be remembered.
Sponsored by Digital's historical collection program, a panel of PDP-1
users will assemble to share their experiences using this landmark
machine. Steven Levy, author of _Hackers_, will moderate the
discussion. He will be joined by Alan Kotok and Dave Gross of Digital,
Jack Dennis of MIT, Steve Russell, Spacewar! developer, Shag Graetz and
Ed Fredkin.
ALL EMPLOYEES ARE INVITED TO ATTEND. For more information on the event
or on Digital's history program, contact Jamie Pearson at DTN 297-4402
or on DUGGAN::PEARSON.
